Some of you may have noticed that this past week your Facebook page “like” number dropped a bit. The drop in the number of likes has affected all our business owners pages to some extent. The issue of the lost “likes” on Facebook business pages was addressed by Facebook on their blog.
Overview of this article – Facebook has now removed memorialized profiles (people who have passed away) and those that have voluntary deactivated accounts from all business page “like” counts.
Not a happy thing to have happen – but we now know all business pages only have live and active people liking their page. While the numbers may be what is focused on – be assured that this does not mean you lost people who were actively engaging with your brand. The numbers are down – but the people available to see your posts are not.

A lot of social sites are trying to clean up their in-actives, etc. … this kind of process is happening on Twitter, Instagram, and other social sites as well. It’s a move to keep all sites with active relevant users to each platform. This move may not seem to be a happy result – but on a marketing standpoint – there was nothing really lost in this change.
